Some tips for those heading down south to help out fellow Texans is to make sure you're aware of the boat's capacity. There should be a sticker in every boat explaining the weight limit.

Boaters should also be aware of other boats and the depth of the water.

Chris Leach, salesmen at Family Power Sports said, "Always wanna be aware of your surroundings and everything else, especially when the debris that's floating around down that way. You don't want to catch anything in your motor or your prop."

As another reminder, always check fuel or gas levels before going out on the water.
