SAN ANGELO, Texas — Cirque Italia is back in San Angelo, making it the third year to perform for the City’s community. It will host multiple performances from Thursday, Mar. 4 to Sunday, Mar. 7 at the Sunset Mall parking lot, 4001 Sunset Drive.

Cirque Italia is the first-ever traveling water circus in the United States, according to Morgaine Rosenthal, Cirque Italia manager and aerialist.

“We are a circus show with no animals, all human performers and we have a 35,000-gallon water tank underneath our stage,” Rosenthal said.

This is a new show with new acts that include aerialists, acrobats, jugglers and contortionists, according to Rosenthal.

The show will not have live music, however, the music, the lights and the water is all part of a very interactive immersive experience, according to Rosenthal.

The show will have limited capacity available within the tent and will require anyone over the age of 10 to wear face masks. Ushers will be cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces, including handrails, every 10 to 15 minutes.

Additionally, the ticketing software will automatically block seats around seats that have been purchased to allow social distancing.

The circus does not allow any outside food or drinks inside the tent, however, toys, souvenirs and snacks will be available inside and are cash only.

The circus asks anyone who brings a stroller to leave it at the concessions tent to avoid blocking aisleways.

Rosenthal said they are very excited to be back in San Angelo and had a great time the past two years.

“We are very excited to be able to come back, especially during this trying time of COVID, Rosenthal said. “We are thrilled we can offer something that is both safe and fun for the entire family.”

Tickets can be purchased online at cirqueitalia.com or from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the box office outside the tent. The circus has a promotion of a free child ticket for every adult ticket purchased.

Doors and the tent open one hour before showtime. Showtimes for San Angelo are as follows:

Thursday, Mar. 4 – 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Mar. 5 – 7:30 p.m.
