City of San Angelo announces temporary changes to animal shelter operations

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The City of San Angelo announced Friday operations to its animal shelter will change temporarily beginning Monday, Jan. 11.

According to a City press release, because of quarantining protocols and procedures in its animal shelter operations will change until further notice.

The changes to operations include:

  • The shelter will no longer be taking in cats during this time with the exception of sick, injured or neonatal.
  • Dogs will only be accepted from 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
  • Field services are only responding to emergency calls which include:
    • Bite investigations
    • Cruelty investigations
    • Aggressive dog at large
    • Estray livestock.

The City will notify residents once shelter operations return to normal.
