Taylor Co. COVID-19-related deaths increase to 17 Friday

ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District reported a new COVID-19-related death Friday, bringing the total to 17. The patient was a woman in her 80s with underlying conditions.

In addition to the death, 19 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported by the City. The new cases include nine PCR cases and 10 antigen cases.

The health district reported 54 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 792, which include 660 PCR cases and 132 antigen cases.

Twenty-nine people are currently hospitalized, the number includes 10 out-of-county patients and 19 in county patients.

As of Friday, Taylor County has administered 11,697 PCR tests and 5,568 antigen tests. Of those tests, 1,077 PCR tests have been confirmed cases and 569 antigen tests have been probable cases.
