TDEM provides self-reporting tool, issues warning for social media posts

The tool will help determine statewide damages from the storm. The agency also issued a warning about social media posts for hotel compensation from FEMA.

TEXAS, USA — The Texas Division of Emergency Management is providing the Texas Disaster Impact Self-reporting Tool, which allows people to report the damages caused by the recent winter storm. 

According to a TDEM Facebook post, it is a statewide effort to collect damage assessment data from the recent winter storm.

The goal is to identify the scale of the disaster and help officials assess the total statewide damages.

To self-report damages visit, tdem.texas.gov/warm.

Additionally, the TDEM issued a scam alert for posts on social media encouraging people to call an 800 number for hotel compensation from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

According to a separate Facebook post, the best information on legitimate sources for help will come from officials and TDEM.
