ABILENE, Texas — Kim Austin of Kim Austin State Farm will be hosting the third annual Abilene Good Neighbor Day this Saturday.
Volunteers will be assisting leaders from area non-profit organizations to meet local needs. Those groups and projects include a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, at 4542 S. 14th St. (behind Schlotzsky’s); Boots on the Ground will be building beds for local children in need; Habitat for Humanity will be painting and repairing houses; and West Texas Food Bank will be supplying groceries to families in need.
According to a Neighbors Helping Neighbors press release, there are three components to the Abilene Good Neighbor Day:
- Discovering needs in the community of either an organization or individual who does not have resources available to meet the need
- Locating volunteers to fulfill those needs
- Nominations for someone who has demonstrated the qualities of being a Good Neighbor by helping the community in a selfless way
If you'd like to volunteer for any of the activities, contact 325-692-0405, go to Austin's Facebook page or email abilenegoodneighbor@gmail.com
