SAN ANGELO, Texas — For the third year, the Concho 4 Wheelers are hosting a thank you barbecue to show appreciation to law enforcement and first responders.

Event organizer Matt Hodges said staying positive even through the bad is what’s going to make things better.

"Nothing's ever fixed by just adding more hate to it, and if we don't start putting some love in and some support, the world's not gonna be a better place. Those guys are out there to protect us so we need to do our part to show them support and protect them." Hodges said.

Since the group started the fundraising event, they have raised nearly $20,000 and donated to different departments such as the fire stations or nursing departments.

Hodges said the group plans to donate all of the proceeds to the families of the Concho County Sheriff's Office deputies who were killed in the line of duty earlier this week.

“We’re just happy that we're here because we would have done this no matter what and probably would have just donated to several different groups like we’ve done in the past. But it is nice that we’re here and ready to support those families in this time of need," Hodges said.

At 9:30 a.m. Saturday, they will begin with a freedom cruise that leaves from 301 W. Concho Ave. and will travel around San Angelo to show support. Then from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. they will have lunch and raffle tickets where attendees can win prizes donated from various Concho Valley residents and businesses.
