ABILENE, Texas — After next of kin notification was made from Tuesday morning’s officer-involved shooting incident, the Abilene Police Department has released the name of the suspect killed.

The man has been identified as Lebarron Ballard, 28, of Abilene.

The call was originally dispatched as a felony robbery, which was followed by a foot pursuit, and ultimately a violent confrontation.

The APD officers who were involved remain at home, recovering from significant injuries, according to a press release from the Abilene Police Department. The investigations by the Texas Rangers and the police department are on-going.
