Abilene Police investigating possible hit-and-run that left pedestrian in critical condition

Abilene PD said a 40-year-old woman was possibly hit by a vehicle after she was found lying in an Abilene roadway Monday evening.

ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Department's Traffic Investigation Division is looking for information on a hit-and-run which left a pedestrian in critical condition.

According to an APD press release, at approximately 7:56 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Pioneer Drive, near State Street and Capitol Avenue for an injured person.

Officers arrived and found a 40-year-old woman lying on the roadway. The victim was taken to a local hospital and eventually flown to a Metroplex hospital because of the severity of her injuries. Some evidence at the scene suggests she was possibly hit by a vehicle.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact Abilene Crime Stoppers at 325-676-8477. Callers will remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward.
