ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Police released a statement Friday morning telling residents there is no credible threat of an incident similar to the El Paso mass shooting happening in the Big Country.
The release from APD stated the Aug. 3 mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart has spawned false social media rumors about similar violence at stores across the state. Those rumors have now reached Abilene.
The Abilene Police Department stated in the release that it has received no specific, credible information related to threats of violence and reminds citizens to always report known threats and/or suspicious behaviors to law enforcement.
Residents can reach the APD's non-emergency line at 325-673-8331.
