ANSON, Texas — On May 6, the Anson Police Department received a call regarding a home invasion and sexual assault.

According to an APD press release, an investigation was launched and the agency contacted the Texas Rangers to assist in the investigation.

Because of the nature and seriousness of crimes such as these, sometimes requires specialized support from other agencies such as the Ranger Divison of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Several leads were developed and followed up, which allowed the Texas Rangers to be able to identify a potential suspect.

The investigation continued and probable cause was developed for the arrest of the identified suspect, the relapse said.

Keith Ellis was arrested June 3 for aggravated sexual assault, aggravated robbery, and burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault.

Ellis was booked into the Jones County Jail.

"I can not thank the Rangers and the Jones County District Attorney's Office enough for their assistance in this investigation," Chief Sanchez, said. "It was a long month but their diligence and attention to detail contributed greatly in this investigation, and that diligence led to this arrest."
