EDEN, Texas — The Eden man charged with the capital murders of two Concho County Sheriff's Office deputies made confessions and apologies for shooting and killing the deputies, and for shooting a City of Eden employee, according to court documents.

Jeffrey Vincent Nicholas was arrested early Tuesday morning after the incident that occurred Monday night.

The documents for each count state Monday Sgt. Stephen Jones and Deputy Samuel Leonard were dispatched to conduct the dog bite investigation and made contact with Nicholas to try to locate the dogs.

Nicholas refused to cooperate with the deputies and ordered him off the property. Witnesses said Nicholas threatened to shoot the deputies if they did not leave, according to the documents.

During a struggle with Nicholas, the deputies tried to use an "electronic control device" to get him to comply.

Nicholas produced a semi-automatic pistol and fired it, striking and killing both deputies. He also shot Eden Public Works Supervisor Ronnie Winans, injuring him.

During an interview, Nicholas made confessions and apologies for the shootings.

In a magistrate appearance May 11, Nicholas requested the appointment of an attorney.

Nicholas was booked into the Tom Green County Jail Tuesday morning. His bond was set at $2 million per count.
