DPS finds 212 grams of methamphetamine during traffic stop

A Midland man was initially pulled over for illegal window tint on his pickup's windows. DPS troopers smelled marijuana coming from the truck.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A traffic stop turned into an arrest and a drug seizure Thursday morning in Tom Green County. 

At approximately 10:30 a.m. July 7 on US Hwy 87S near Wall, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers working patrol noticed a truck with "illegal window tint" on the driver and passenger sides of a pickup truck traveling north. 

When Midland resident David Jose Betancourt was pulled over, troopers noticed the scent of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. They searched the truck and found 212 grams of methamphetamine inside the main console, DPS said. 

Betancourt was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on a charge of manufacture/delivery of controlled substance.
