San Angelo PD asks for video footage from Brentwood Park area

The San Angelo Police Department is asking residents of the Brentwood Park neighborhood for video footage that may be related to the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Police Department is asking for help from citizens who live in the neighborhood surrounding Brentwood Park who may have video footage from Tuesday evening that could help in an investigation of a fatal hit-and-run.

Jesse Hernandez, 87, was crossing the street on his motorized wheelchair when he was struck by a white, possibly 2010-2020 model, long/full-sized SUV. The SUV reportedly continued west on Upton before turning north on North Marie Street. The SUV will most likely have significant front-end damage. 

Hernandez was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, but was later pronounced dead.

WHO: Anyone with a working home surveillance camera system that picks up the roadway (doorbell cam, driveway cam, etc.) who lives on any street surrounding Brentwood Park (Wilshire Place, North Harrison Street, Woodlawn Drive, or North Van Buren Street); or, any of the listed streets where they intersect with North Howard, Junius, North Jefferson and Webster streets.

WHEN: Video recordings from 4 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29

WHY: Regarding the ongoing “hit-and-run fatality crash” investigation involving a large, light in color, or white, SUV with front end/front passenger side damage.
