SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Police Department provided an update to its ongoing investigation of a fatal hit-and-run involving a large, light in color or white SUV with front end/front passenger side damage.
Detectives believe the suspect vehicle is a white Ford Expedition ￼EL (longer version) and possibly crossed Bell Street to the west.
An 87-year-old San Angelo man, Jesse Hernandez, was crossing the road in his motorized wheelchair when he was struck by the SUV, which continued on after striking him.
Hernandez was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The department is asking for help from citizens:
WHAT: Camera footage — If you have a working home surveillance camera system that picks up the roadway (doorbell cam, driveway cam, etc.) and you live on any street surrounding this area (see below) please review your video.
WHO CAN HELP: Citizens that live in the neighborhood surrounding Bell and Pulliam streets (within about one mile). Detectives are looking to expand the search area to be with in Main and St. Johns streets (east and west) and Ricks Drive and Harris Avenue (north and south).
WHEN: Video recordings from 8:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2020.
