Sterling County traffic stop results in seizure of cocaine, cash

STERLING COUNTY, Texas — A routine traffic stop in Sterling County led to the seizure of cocaine and cash, and the arrest of the driver Saturday.

According to the Sterling County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 17, Sterling County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sanchez was patrolling Hwy 158 in Sterling City when he pulled over a grey Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation.

During the contact, a probable cause search of the vehicle was performed. Approximately 4.5 lbs. of cocaine was found inside the car, along with $2,920 in cash. The estimated street value of the cocaine is more than $50,000.

The driver, Jesus Alberto Gonzalez, 19, of Eagle Pass, was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on charges of manufacture delivery of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1 > 400G and money laundering. His bond was set at $75,000.
