Surveillance leads to felony fugitive arrest Wednesday

The fugitive initially fled in a vehicle but surrendered without further incident.

TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — Investigators from the Tom Green County Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Division were conducting surveillance on a known felony fugitive at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to a TGCSO press release, the fugitive noticed investigators as he entered a vehicle and began to flee.

Investigators began to follow and as the fugitive rounded a corner he lost control and rolled the vehicle, according to the release.

After the vehicle stopped, the suspect was observed with a gun. The suspect refused to exit the vehicle and made a statement that he would not be taken alive.

Investigators eventually defused the situation and the suspect. 

The suspect identified as Agapito Chappa III,40, surrendered without further incident.

Investigators were assisted by the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division, Tom Green County Constables, Texas Department of Public Safety and the San Angelo Police Department.
