Suspect arrested in Friday morning north Abilene shooting

ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Police Department officers responded to a call in regards to an injured person at approximately 1 a.m. Friday, May 28 in the 1000 block of Pinot Drive.

According to an APD release, upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect left the scene prior to the arrival of APD. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries, according to the release.

Dyes Air Force Base Security Forces arrested the suspect as he tried to enter the base. 

The suspect, Cartrell Wright,20, a Dyess Airman, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Wright is being held at the Taylor County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
