Two arrested by Abilene Police on fraud, drug charges

Two men were arrested Thursday in Abilene on charges including forgery and possession of a controlled substance.

ABILENE, Texas — Two men were arrested on various charges including forgery and possession of drugs, according to a press release from the Abilene Police Department.

APD’s Fraud, Cyber Crimes and Special Victim’s unit detectives executed a search warrant Thursday at an apartment in the 300 block of Washington Street in north Abilene.

During the execution of the warrant, one of the suspects barricaded the door to prevent officers from entering. Breach was eventually made and Jason East, 27, and Daniel Bledsue, 26, were taken into custody.

East has been charged with Class B misdemeanor interfering with public duties; state jail felony burglary of a building; state jail felony forgery financial instrument; and state jail felony possession of a controlled substance.

Bledsue was charged with state jail felony forgery financial instrument; and state jail felony possession of a controlled substance.

East is accused of entering into the locked payment box inside the office of the apartment complex in which he lives, and stealing money orders for the purpose of forging them for personal gain.

Bledsue is accused of passing forged money orders at a north Abilene business.

Items confiscated in the search warrant include a generator, two motorcycles and a Freon pump used in HVAC work. The investigation in ongoing, according to police.
