UPDATE: ASU bicycle theft suspect arrested

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE: The Angelo State University Police Department announced the arrest of one of three bicycle suspects that were wanted by the department.

According to Tom Green County Jail records, Andrew Barnett, 26, was booked into the jail at 5:16 a.m. Wednesday. ASU PD is listed as the arresting agency.

Barnett has been charged with theft of property > = $100<$750; theft Class C; possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1 <1G; and failure to appear.

Jonathan Munoz and Armando Meza are still wanted in connection with the string of bicycle thefts on campus.

ORIGINAL STORY: Angelo State University Police are investigating a series of bicycle thefts at residence halls on campus.

Police have identified three suspects and obtained arrest warrants for Andrew Barnett, Jonathan Munoz and Armando Meza.

Police ask the public to be on the lookout for these individuals.

Most of the bicycles taken were either not secured, or were locked with cable-style locks. Police recommend using a U-lock type lock, which is much harder to defeat.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity or person(s) around the bicycle rack areas is asked to immediately call University Police at 325-942-2071.

Anyone with information related to these theft is asked to contact Sgt. Villarreal with the ASU PD.
