UPDATE: Fourth arrest made in connection with 2021 murder of Jacob Hernandez

The victim was Jacob Hernandez, 29, of San Angelo.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (Feb. 21, 2022): A fourth arrest has been made in connection to the May 2021 murder of Jacob Hernandez. 

According to Taylor County Jail records, Amethyst Aliyah Deanda, 17, was booked Monday on a charge of capital murder. 

Eric Anthony Aguillon, David Alexander Rodriguez and Francisco Morales have all been charged in connection to Hernandez's shooting death, along with Deanda.

UPDATE (Feb. 15, 2022): David Alexander Rodriguez has been charged with capital murder by terror threat/other felony, according to court documents. 

UPDATE (Jan. 24, 2022): Court documents show an arrest has been made in the May 26, 2021, shooting death of Jacob Hernandez, 29, of San Angelo.

David Alexander Rodriguez, 23, was arrested on a charge of murder on Jan. 21, 2022, according to the Tom Green County jail roster.

A release from the San Angelo Police Department Monday confirmed Rodriguez's arrest in Hernandez's murder. Court documents show Hernandez knowingly and intentionally caused Hernandez's death by shooting him with a handgun.

In June 2021, an arrest was made in connection to the homicide. 

According to an SAPD press release, after a lengthy investigation, the department's Criminal Investigations Division was able to identify the suspect as Francisco Morales, 17.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Morales and he was arrested in Abilene, with the assistance of the Abilene Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and Gang Unit.

In a December 2021 interview from the Taylor County Jail, Morales said he was present during Hernandez's murder, according to court documents. Morales also said he secured the gun used in the murder from another person. 

The affidavit states Morales went to the location to commit aggravated robbery. 

Rodriguez's bond has been set at $1M.

UPDATE (2:30 p.m. May 27): The San Angelo Police Department has released the identity of the man found killed on North Lillie Street Wednesday.

According to a press release from the department, the victim was Jacob Hernandez, 29, of San Angelo.

Investigation shows suspect(s) entered Hernandez’s home and shot him with a handgun. The suspect(s) then fled in an unknown direction.

ORIGINAL STORY: The San Angelo Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Wednesday in the 2400 block of North Lillie Street. 

According to an SAPD news release, officers responded to a call about a shooting victim at approximately 3:24 a.m. Wednesday. When officers and paramedics arrived, they found the victim dead.

The victim's body was transported to Lubbock for autopsy. Police did not identify the victim.

The SAPD said this is an active homicide investigation, no further information was available at the time of the release.
