Donations needed to help provide school supplies for local teachers

Free school supplies will be available for teachers to pick up at the beginning of August.

ABILENE, Texas — The nonprofit, Global Samaritan Resources is collecting school supplies for local teachers. The effort is called the, ‘Teacher Resource Room Project.’

This Tuesday and Wednesday morning donations were dropped off at the center.

"We have been spending the month of June getting the materials that they had, getting it organized and put up so that teachers could come and browse and take what they want,” AISD speech pathologist, Martha Godsey said.

Donations are being collected next week July 17th and 18th from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M at the center.

Teachers can come by August 1st and 2nd to pick up supplies needed.

"We're also wanting Big Country, so Clyde, Sweetwater, San Angelo, anything like that, come on out,” Global Samaritan Resource marketing and development chair, Lindsey Bloomer said.
