ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Independent School District released a statement Friday afternoon saying a transportation department staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
AISD said in a press release the staff member is not a bus driver and had no contact with students.
The release also said the person will quarantine for 10 days and must meet the district's return-to-work guidelines outlined in AISD's reopening plan.
The guidelines include 24 hours fever-free without using fever-reducing medication, improving symptoms and at least 10 days removed from the onset of symptoms.
The district and campus administrators have followed notification protocols as outlined in the reopening plan.
The district also said campuses and facilities are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
AISD said it and campus staff are committed to maintaining a safe working environment at each of its facilities.
