Nominations for 2021 H-E-B Excellence in Education awards now open

Both teachers and principals can be nominated for the award.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — San Angelo Independent School District teachers and principals who have made a positive on students and the community can be nominated for the 2021 H-E-B Excellence in Education awards.

According to an SAISD press release, the Excellence in Education Teacher Award recognizes teachers who show passion and commitment in the teaching profession, innovation and creativity in the classroom and professional development.  

The release also said the principal award recognizes principals who excel in campus leadership and culture, instructional leadership and management and effectively communicate with their community.

The award, now entering its 20th year, is designed to honor and thank school professionals for their dedication and commitment to students in their area.

The program pays tribute to educators who go above and beyond to serve the students and the community, as well as inspire others to do the same.

Winners of the 2020 Excellence in Education award received more than $430,000 in cash awards, as well as grants to eight educators, two school districts, an early childhood agency and a public school board to help with expansion of its programs.

Nominations are accepted through Dec. 7 and can be found at heb.com/nominate.
