SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Independent School District released its inclement weather contingency plan for the Central High School and Lake View High School commencement ceremonies scheduled for 9 a.m.  Saturday, May 29.

According to an SAISD press release, the district is monitoring the weather for the Class of 2021 graduation ceremonies.

The district said its goal is to have the outdoor ceremonies as planned, however, in the event of inclement weather, alternate plans have been made.

The district will make a decision if necessary and communicate any updates through its website, social media pages, the district notification system email and text to high school families, the release said.

The contingency plan is as follows:

  • Plan A: One-Hour Delay - If necessary, SAISD will make a decision in response to inclement weather. The initial plan would be to postpone the start time of graduation by one hour, but a longer delay is possible. With a one-hour delay, the start of graduation ceremonies would be pushed back from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. It is possible that only one high school ceremony could be delayed, but the other continue as regularly scheduled.
  • Plan B: Further Delay / Move to Foster Communications Coliseum - If further delay becomes necessary due to weather conditions, the graduation ceremonies will be moved to Foster Communications Coliseum, 50 E 43rd St.
  • Details by high school for Plan B will be as follows:
  • Lake View High School - Ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 pm. Tickets will still be required for admittance.
  • Central High School- Ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. Tickets will still be required for admittance, but due to capacity limitations at the venue and the size of the Central High School graduating class, only orange tickets will be admitted, for a maximum of six per student rather than 10.

The ceremonies will be recorded and broadcasted on Suddenlink Channel 4 and uploaded to the SAISD YouTube Channel.

Great effort and planning are being invested into making this milestone special for all graduates and their families, whether as regularly planned or if changed in response to weather conditions. the release said.

SAISD appreciates the adaptability and understanding of its students and families as it works to create meaningful celebrations for its Class of 2021.
