UK moves to online instruction for rest of semester

The University of Kentucky originally announced instruction will continue online through April 3, but will now finish the semester online.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky will continue instruction online for the rest of the semester due to coronavirus concerns.

UK originally announced instruction would be online through April 3, but said it will now finish the spring semester online. The school has asked students to return to their residences away from campus, and said more information will come Thursday, March 19.

Students who cannot return home can receive approval to remain on campus by filling out a form here. Refunds will be given for housing and dining. Commencement is postponed, but UK did say there will be a commencement scheduled at a later date.

Faculty and staff were asked to determine who must remain on campus, and allow others to work remotely in the weeks to come.

None of these changes will affect the semester completion date.

The University of Indiana has enacted a similar plan.

At this time, Louisville has only moved online through April 5. Bellarmine will continue classes online through April, and has asked residents to move off campus.

Berea College in Madison County canceled instruction for the rest of the semester amid coronavirus concerns, asking students to move out of student housing and canceling all athletic events.
