Inclement weather is causing some schools, businesses and organizations to close or delay openings.

Abilene Christian University remote instruction and work canceled for the rest of the week.

  • The Bean is open to serve food from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Brown Library is open today and the rest of this week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but access is only via ID card swipe.
  • The Money Student Recreation and Wellness Center remains closed.

Abilene Independent School District closed Friday. Classes will resume Monday, Feb. 22.

Aspermont Independent School District will hold classes virtually Friday.

Bronte Independent School District has canceled classes Friday. In-person instruction will resume Monday, Feb. 22.

Brownwood Independent School District has canceled classes Friday. There are no remote expectations.

Breckenridge Independent School District will not have school Friday because of a water pipe bursting and water being shut off at all district facilities. Classes will resume Monday, Feb. 22.

City of Abilene

  • City closures and other information for Wednesday - Friday, including cancellation of all COVID-19 vaccine clinics through 2/19/21: 
  • Warming centers available at the Beltway Park Church north and southside campuses, located at 2850 Highway 351, and 4009 Beltway Park South. For a ride, call 325.721.4948 or 325.721.6074.
  • The Health District has canceled the COVID-19 vaccination clinics scheduled for the week of February 15th through 19th are canceled. Staff will contact individuals with appointments to reschedule.
  • The Abilene Animal Shelter will remain open for emergency shelter operations, including temporary shelter for stray animals.
  • City offices are closed the week of February 15th through 19th. The City will continue to follow AISD cancellations during this severe weather event.
  • Trash collection is canceled through Friday, Feb. 19 and the landfill is closed. Saturday collection will not take place because of landfill closed. Solid Waste expects to return to normal service Monday, Feb. 22.

Coleman Independent School District classes canceled because of water leaks within the facilities.

Colorado Independent School District classes held virtually. Classes resume Monday, Feb. 19.

Eastland Independent School District will be closed Friday. Siebert FEMA Dome is open for anyone needing shelter.

Grandfalls-Royalty Independent School District classes canceled Friday.

Haskell Consolidated Independent School District school closed Friday. Classes will resume Monday, Feb. 22.

Hermleigh Independent School District school canceled Friday, Feb. 19.

Knox City -O'Brien Consolidated Independent School District will have a1 10 a.m. start time Friday, with buses running two hours late.

Merkel Independent School District - Friday has been changed to a teacher workday and student holiday. Classes will resume Monday, Feb. 22.

Roby Consolidated Independent School District classes canceled Friday. Classes will resume Monday, Feb. 22.

Santa Anna Independent School District school will have a 10 a.m. start time Friday. Breakfast will not be served and there will be no ACE.

Snyder Independent School District no school Friday because of a student holiday. Classes will resume Monday, Feb. 22. 

Stamford Independent School District will be closed Friday.

Sweetwater Independent School District all facilities closed Friday because of broken pipes and no heat. Staff will reach out to connect and work with students. 

Taylor County courthouse and offices closed Friday to further access the damages of broken water lines in the county buildings.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center will be closed Friday

  • Abilene Community Health Center will be closed Friday.

Winter Independent School District classes will be held remotely Friday.

CONCHO VALLEY

Angelo State University campus will remain closed until Monday, Feb. 22. Online and in-person classes are canceled.

  • The CAF will be open at normal hours to provide meals to students.
  • Plaza Verde will continue to be available to students
  • On-campus students should contact their RA if they need assistance or have questions.
  • Please continue to use caution while walking on campus, as sidewalks continue to be slick.
  • Essential staff personnel should contact their direct supervisor for more information. Non-essential staff personnel should receive further instruction from their supervisor.

Carl Ray Johnson Recreation Center closed through Monday, Feb. 22 because of a water leak.

City of San Angelo offices will delay open at 10 a.m. Friday.

  • Republic Services will resume collection Friday.
    • Commercial collections will start at 9 a.m.. Collection efforts will focus on customers such as hospitals, retirement living, etc.
    • Industrial (roll-off containers, compactors) collections will start at 9:30 a.m. Industrial collection focuses on customers such as hospitals, retirement living and grocery stores.
    • Residential collections will start at 10 a.m. Thursday's route will be collected Friday; Friday's route will be collected Saturday. 
    • Collections trucks will operate in areas where road conditions will allow safe operation. There are concerns about The Bluffs neighborhood because of elevation changes and road conditions. If unsafe to service Friday will move to Saturday.
    • Recycling and bulk will be operating, as well. 
    • Additional manpower and trucks will be available for commercial and residential collection services. Carts and additional bagged waste should be left at the curb until it is collected.
    • Landfill closed until Monday, Feb. 22.
  •  Development Corporation meeting on Feb. 24 canceled.

City of Brady  updated trash scheduled:

  • Friday's trash moved to Monday, Feb. 22
  • Monday's trash moved to Tuesday, Feb. 23
  • Tuesday's trash moved to Wednesday, Feb. 24

Concho Educators Federal Credit Union drive-ups and lobbies will open at 9 a.m. 

Concho Valley Transit  The tentative schedule for Friday is as follows:

  • Urban Demand Response starting service at 9 a.m.
  • Fixed Route starting service at 1:30 p.m.
  • Rural service for the following counties suspended: Schleicher, Sutton, Crockett, Reagan, Irion, Menard and Kimble.
  • Coke and Sterling counties starting service at 9:30 a.m.
  • McCulloch and Concho counties starting service at 10 a.m.
  • Conch Valley Transit will be fare-free Friday, Feb, 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20.

Cornerstone Christian School has canceled classes (in-person and online) through Monday, Feb. 22.

Crockett County CCSD will not have school Friday. The district is planning to resume face-to-face instruction Monday, Feb. 22.

Eden Independent School District will start at 10 a.m. Friday.

Goodfellow Air Force Base MISSION ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL & AS DIRECTED PERSONNEL ONLY for Friday. 

  • Mission essential personnel and as directed personnel only to report for duty; maximum teleworking expected for all others. Commanders will contact additional personnel who are required to report.
  • GAFB COVID-19 Vaccinations: will continue as scheduled. All personnel notified of their vaccine chalk time for Friday, Feb. 19, are to report at their designated time. Please bring your approved DHA Form 207. Civilian attire is approved.
  • Howard College San Angelo all campuses closed Friday. All classes, face-to-face, virtual and online) are canceled.
    • SouthWest College for the Deaf all campuses closed. All classes, face-to-face, virtual and online) are canceled

Junction Independent School District no school Friday. There will be no virtual instruction.

Menard Independent School District classes canceled Friday.

San Angelo Independent School District schools closed Friday. There will be no expectation of online attendance for in-person students or Virtual Academy students.

Schleicher County Independent School District has canceled school Friday. Classes will resume on regular schedule Monday, Feb. 22.

Sonora Independent School District closed Friday. There will be no remote learning. 

Sterling County Independent School District will not have school Friday.

Tom Green County offices will open at 10 a.m. Friday.

Tom Green County Library System will have a two-hour delay Friday and will open at 11 a.m.

Water Valley Independent School District has canceled school Friday. Classes resume Monday, Feb.22.
