The head of the consumer financial protection bureau appears to be dialing back the investigation into a massive data breach at Equifax.

According to people familiar with the matter, white house budget director and chief of the CFPB. Mick Mulvaney has been pulling back from a full-scale probe into the Equifax breach.

Mulvaney took over as head of the CFPB in November after Cordray stepped down to run for governor in Ohio.

According to three unnamed sources since the investigation has slowed Mulvaney has not issued subpoenas or sought outsworn testimonies.
