The salvation army hosted an event to help the homeless population of San Angelo.
The event is called the 'Point in Time' count where the City counts the number of people that are considered homeless in the area.
The numbers gathered are sent out so San Angelo can apply to receive federal funding.
The event also shows off the services that many can benefit from but might now be aware of like VA and social security benefits.
Tim Grider says, “most of us were here when we saw tent city develop when we saw tent city develop under the bridge over the river of course since then the homeless coalition stepped in able to get them up and out and move them forward in case management progress.”
Events like this let the City know that as the city grows so does the homeless population. With federal funding, the City can help those in need get back on their feet.
