ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Fire Department will be accepting applications for Firefighters beginning on September 9th.
For the first time in 20 years, AFD will be accepting applications from non-certified candidates. That means no experience or prior training is required.
The Abilene Fire Department will provide in-house fire and EMT training for potential candidates.
“When they go to firefighter academy at colleges, they might get a different perspective there than they would be here, so it’s a great opportunity to mold someone with no experience into what we want an Abilene firefighter to be like,” said AFD, Public information office, Elise Roberts.
