ABILENE, TX. — For over 24 years, the friends of the library have organized an annual book sale for the funding of the Abilene public library.

"Every penny that we make off this sale gets donated back into the library system. Last year we grossed a little over $62,000 in sales," says chair of the book sale, Time Bench. Programs such as for summer reading, equipment and more are funded.

From books, to DVD's' and antiques, this is the largest sale of the year. Children, teachers, and citizens from all of the Big Country stacked up on goodies.

"Reading is such a valuable tool, especially for young people to have and to know, to develop and to appreciate," says Tim.

This year's total funds will be announced this upcoming week.
