ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Department is changing the way its public auction of abandoned vehicles will be held.
Since the law prohibits a public auction on the lot at this time because of the COVID-19 outbreak, so the auction will be conducted online through renebates.com.
The auction will open for bids Tuesday, April 7, and run through 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21. There are approximately 50 vehicles in the auction.
Bidders will register online at renebates.com in order to place bids. There will be a $100 registration fee and bidders can request reimbursement of the registration fee if they do not win a bid.
renebates.com will not charge the buyer additional fees. Payments may be made via PayPal accounts.
There will be no viewing at the impound lot.
