SAN ANGELO, Texas — The City of San Angelo issued a statement Wednesday evening answering several frequently asked questions regarding COVID-19.

According to a statement from the City, the positivity rate is the percentage of all COVID-19 tests performed that are positive. The hospitalization rate is the percentage of COVID-19 patients in the hospital compared to the total hospital capacity.

The City also said whenever the percent of COVID-19-hospitalizations compared to hospital capacity surpasses a 15% seven-day rolling average some businesses will be required to close or reduce capacity.

Tom Green County is in the TSA Region K and the region crossed the 15% threshold Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Overseeing City venues and enforcing the governor's face mask mandate are overseen by the mayor and city government.

A city or county shutdown under the current governor's executive orders is not allowed unless it's enacted by the governor.

Keeping schools open is a top priority for community leaders and the San Angelo Independent School District is monitoring the health and wellness of staff and students.
