Fifty-ninth COVID-19-related death confirmed in Taylor Co.

Thirty-six new confirmed COVID-19 cases were also reported.

ABILENE, Taylor County — The Abilene-Taylor County Health District confirmed the 59th COVID-19-related death - a woman in her 40s with pre-existing health conditions - in Taylor County Wednesday.

According to the health district, the death occurred outside of Taylor County on Aug. 9. The patient's death and residency have been reported to the health district by state health authorities.

The health district also reported 36 newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases - six PCR and 30 antigen.

Eighteen new recoveries were also reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,634.

Twenty-five current hospitalizations were included in the report.

There have been 16,990 PCR and 16,674 antigen tests administered in Taylor County. Of those tests, 1,579 PCR and 1,650 antigen tests were confirmed cases.

There were also 15,411 negative PCR and 15,024 negative antigen test results reported.
