The Abilene-Taylor County Health District confirmed an additional COVID-19-related death in Taylor County Sunday, bringing the total number of deaths to 40.
The patient was a woman in her 70s with pre-existing health conditions.
According to the health district, Saturday's second patient was a woman in her 60s, with pre-existing conditions.
In addition to the new death, the health district reported five new confirmed cases. All cases were antigen with no PCR cases reported.
The health district also reported 4 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,088.
Eighteen current hospitalizations were reported.
As of Sept. 6, Taylor County has administered 13,198 PCR tests and 9,744 antigen tests. Of those tests, 1,370 PCR tests and 1,157 antigen tests have been confirmed cases.
There have also been 11,828 PCR and 8,587 antigen tests that were negative results.
