Taylor Co. COVID-19-related deaths increase to 25 Thursday

The 25th COVID-19-related death was confirmed Thursday by the Abilene-Taylor County Health District.

The patient was a man in his 60s with preexisting health conditions, according to the City of Abilene.

The health district also reported 20 new confirmed COVID-19 cases - eight PCR cases and 12 antigen cases.

Additionally, the health district reported 37 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,339. 

Nineteen current hospitalizations were also reported.

The total number of tests administered in Taylor County, as of Thursday afternoon, is 12,072 PCR tests and 6,499 antigen tests. Of those tests, 1,145 have been positive PCR and 660 have been positive antigen results.

As of Aug. 13, 10,927 PCR tests and 5,389 antigen tests resulted in negative cases.
