Taylor Co. COVID-19-related deaths rise to 240 Saturday

The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health district confirmed five additional COVID-19-related deaths and reported 145 new confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The Abilene-Taylor County Health District confirmed five additional COVID-19-related deaths in Taylor County Saturday.

The patients were two men in their 70s, two women in their 70s and a man in his 80s.

The new deaths bring the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in Taylor County to 240.

The health district also reported 145 new confirmed COVID-19 cases - 67 PCR and 78 antigen.

There were 102 recoveries reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,278.

There were 131 total hospitalizations included in the report. 

The updated hospitalization information for Jan. 16 was not available at the time of the release, according to the City of Abilene.

As of Jan. 16, Taylor County has administered 44,918 PCR and 60,920 antigen tests. Of those tests, 5,991 PCR and 5,568 antigen tests were confirmed cases.

Additionally, 38,927 negative PCR and 53,778 negative antigen test results were also reported.
