COVID-19-related deaths rise to 205 in Taylor Co. Sunday

The health district reported 136 new confirmed COVID-19 cases for Jan. 2-3 - 66 for Saturday and 70 for Sunday.

ABILENE, Taylor County — The Abilene-Taylor County Health District confirmed the 205th COVID-19-related death - a man in his 60s with pre-existing health conditions - in Taylor County Sunday.

The health district also reported a total of 136 new confirmed COVID-19 cases for the Jan. 2-3 - 66 for Saturday and 70 for Sunday.

Saturday's cases included 24 PCR and 42 antigen. Sunday's cases included 54 PCR and 16 antigen.

There were 8,973 recoveries reported Saturday and 52 recoveries reported Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,025.

There were 264 total hospitalizations reported - 125 for Saturday and 139 for Sunday

As of Jan. 3, Taylor County has administered 41,309  PCR and 54,279 antigen tests, of which, 5,115 PCR and 6,250 antigen tests were confirmed cases.

Additionally, there were 36,194 negative PCR and 4,909 antigen test results reported.
