Face masks required in all Tom Green Co. retail stores with capacity of more than 100 people

Failure to comply with the order in effect could result in a Class B misdemeanor charge or other legal action.

TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the local health authority, Dr. James Vretis, issued an order Thursday requiring businesses to require the use of face masks in retail stores with an occupancy load of 100 people or more.

According to a press release from the City of San Angelo, the order includes establishments such as grocery stores, building supply stores and other big-box type of stores in Tom Green County.

The order will take effect at midnight Saturday, June 27.

All employees and customers older than 10 must wear a mask or cloth that covers the mouth and nose while within the store and also wear the facial covering if they are within six feet of another household outside the store on store property, the release said.

Failure to comply with this order may result in a Class B misdemeanor charge or other court action.
