SAN ANGELO, Texas — H-E-B announced Friday that one of its employees from the 5502 Sherwood Way location has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the company, the store partner has not been present at the location since June 9. All store partners who were directly affected at the location have been notified and the store has been deep cleaned and sanitized multiple times, according to the company.
"At our stores, we continue to enforce proper social distancing practices, strict sanitation and require the use of masks or facial covering by all our Partners and vendors in customer facing and close contact positions. H-E-B requests all our customers to wear masks or facial coverings while shopping in our stores. Social distancing, wearing masks, proper hand washing, and sanitization are all things we do to help keep Texas healthy," the release said.
Earlier this week, a petition was started on change.org demanding the grocery chain require customers to wear masks when entering its stores across the state. More than 44,000 people have signed the petition, as of Friday morning.
