ABILENE, Texas — According to the City of Abilene, Mayor Anthony Williams has sent a letter to the Texas Governors Office, requesting a regional approach when it comes to reopening bars and similar establishments.
Mayor Williams also, suggests masks no longer be required in public in regions where it is less than 2% infected.
According to Williams, the bar industry is suffering to survive.
"In January we had less than 1,000 of our neighbors who were out of work, in June that ballooned to 10,000 and then 15,000 in the region, so we are trying to respond to that,” said Williams.
