It's National Child Passenger Safety Awareness week and according to Safe Kids Worldwide, the leading cause of unintentional deaths of children are road injuries or car deaths.

Recently in Concho Valley, there were several back to back car wrecks where infants and toddlers were severely injured or died. This lead to an even bigger push for agencies to reach out to parents, and it worked.

Texas Department of Public Safety's Sargent Justin Baker said, "We did have a crash not too long after where that was one of the first things the parent wanted to come tell us is, 'I saw the news and I wanted to make sure I had my child properly secured in the vehicle'."

Safe Kids Worldwide said, children should ride in the back seat until they are at least 13-years-old. They also suggest always registering each car seat purchased so parents can be notified of any recalls or other issues.
