SAN ANGELO, Texas — Sunset Mall celebrates four decades and one woman has been employed at the shopping center since the beginning.
“I’ve pretty much worked for Sunset Mall most of my life,” Jamie Bozeman Sunset Mall employee said.
Bozeman was only 18 with the world at her finger tips, leaving for college and trying different careers, there was one thing she always came back to and that was Sunset Mall.
“Even while I was doing that I worked part time at the mall,” Bozeman said.
Bozeman said she made her best friends, learned her toughest lessons, and even had her first taste of alcohol at Chelsea’s Pub a bar that once stood where Marshals is now.
“My worst experience was with pina coladas and we won’t talk about that,” Bozeman said.
Bozeman said as the decades have progressed one thing that she noticed the most is the innocence that has faded.
“I miss the fact that it’s not as safe for the kids to hang out like they used to,” Bozeman said.
Bozeman is optimistic for the future of the shopping center.
“We may see down the road possible solar it be great to put solar panels up,” Bozeman said.
While also at terms with the fact of the end.
“Maybe eventually it might get phased out,” Bozeman said.
Until the time comes, Bozeman said she will continue to make more memories in the “sunset”.
