Walker was shot in the head and abdomen while responding to a call about a disabled vehicle on Highway 84 by the suspect inside the vehicle, the Texas DPS Officers Association said.
According to Walker's obituary, his services will be held in Groesbeck, where he was from. Groesbeck is about 40 minutes east of Waco.

Visitation will be open to the public at Groesbeck Funeral Home, 1215 E Yeagua St., Groesbeck, from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6.
Walker's funeral service is scheduled the following day, April 7, at 10 a.m. It will be held at the Groesbeck High School Football Stadium, 1202 N Ellis St., Groesbeck. Walker's burial will follow at LaSalle Cemetery, FM 1953.
The public is allowed to enter after Walker's casket is placed on the field, which is expected to happen around 9 a.m. The public is asked to enter through the northwest gate and the west gate. Seating will be on the home side of the bleachers.
The public is also being asked to park at Groesbeck High School, which is limited to 350 spots. Groesbeck Middle School has been designated for handicap parking and their accompanying guest.
There will be shuttle buses to and from the stadium from the four locations:
- H.O. Whitehurst Elementary
- Enge-Washington Intermediate
- Groesbeck Middle School
The first shuttle buses will depart around 8:10 a.m. with the last shuttles leaving 9:35 a.m. These buses will also take attendees back to where they parked.
