KIMBLE COUNTY, Texas — A child died in a two-vehicle collision Thursday evening in Kimble County.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on US Hwy 377, approximately eight miles southwest of London.

The report said a tractor-trailer, driven by Derek La Tray James Scurry of Las Vegas, was traveling southbound on Hwy 377 and an SUV, driven by Martha Gabriela Ramirez of Surprise, Arizona, was traveling northbound.

The SUV started to spin because of ice on the road and traveled into the southbound lane, hitting the 18-wheeler head-on. The SUV hit in the rear driver side and spun, ejecting five of its unrestrained occupants, DPS said in the report.

The SUV came to rest facing south in the northbound lane.

Ramirez and five passengers, including two minors, were taken to Kimble Hospital for treatment of various injuries. The girl killed was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Josh Cantrell. Her age was not listed in the DPS crash report.

The crash remains under DPS investigation.
