SAN ANGELO, Texas — The City of San Angelo announced Wednesday it has launched a sponsored sweepstakes for water utility customers who enroll, or are already enrolled, in paperless billing, AutoPay or online payments.

According to a release from the City, five winners will be chosen and each awarded a $100 Visa gift card. The sweepstakes closes Sunday, April 18.

The sweepstakes is sponsored and funded by Invoice Cloud, a provider of secure e-payments serving local governments and utilities nationwide. The City of San Angelo began using Invoice Cloud in January 2020, for online payments and pay-by-text options.

“San Angelo residents are able to easily and safely pay their utility bills online using a computer or mobile device,” Water Utilities Director Allison Strube said in the release. “We hope the sweepstakes will offer an added incentive for customers to take advantage of the online payment services we offer.”

Online credit card payments or e-check/bank drafts payments can be made monthly, or by establishing an automatic recurring payment. Customers also have the option to go paperless and sign up for “Pay by Text” to receive notifications and pay via text message.

“There are many benefits to paperless billing, from convenient access to bills anytime online, to email payment reminders and confirmations, to reducing paper clutter and waste,” Bob Lapides, Invoice Cloud president, said in the release. “With COVID-19-related social distancing guidelines affecting trips and transactions, consumers are finding added convenience and safety through e-payments.”

Customers can enroll in paperless billing, register to pay online and enroll in AutoPay at cosatx.us/waterbill. Customers already enrolled in any of the aforementioned services will be automatically entered. The official rules of the sweepstakes are available at cosatx.us/customerservice. For more information, contact the Water Utilities Department at 325-657-4323.

The release included the following information: Payment card data is subject to constant threats from cyber criminals and the security of payment card data to modern businesses is paramount to success. Any applications that store, process or transmit sensitive cardholder data must protect that data according to the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). Invoice Cloud adheres to all PCI requirements to keep your payment data safe. Invoice Cloud is committed to protecting your data and has achieved the highest level of security: PA DSS Level 1 Validated Payment Application.

Wednesday morning, the City notified customers its Water Utility payment office is once again open to the public after closing because of COVID-19 concerns.
