COWBOY-UP Chocolates gearing up for Valentine's Day

The new West Texas chocolate shop is preparing sweet treats for the upcoming holiday.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Valentine’s Day is a few days away, and the newly-relocated chocolate shop COWBOY-UP Chocolates is thrilled to pump out the sweet treats.

The business was originally owned by James Crowder 13 years ago.

With the vision and dream to create something unique here in West Texas, Crowder’s love for chocolate and baking led to the conception of COWBOY-UP Chocolates in 2003. Soon after, Crowder created what would later become the original “Concho Caramel.”

In 2019, he handed over the business to "Wild West Charlie". At first, Charlie had no idea about the chocolate business. But now, COWBOY-UP Chocolates moved into its new downtown location, 6 E. Concho Ave, four months ago and business has been booming.

“We’re having a great experience downtown. The people of San Angelo have been very receptive to what we’re doing and we’ve been getting exposure from a lot of different people,” Charlie said.

Selling chocolates on its website has helped the store keep business flowing over the last few years. Countless local chocolate lovers place orders on the website and fulfill their sweet desires.

Valentine’s season is one of the busiest seasons for COWBOY-UP, so the business has a number of specials to gear up for the season.

“For Valentine’s Day, we’re doing some unique cowboy girl and boy chocolate boxes. We also have an assortment of chocolates and truffles. Our most popular is our wild strawberry chocolate truffle,” Charlie said.

He said different people of all ages and all different walks of life come in and purchase chocolate, especially since the downtown relocation.

If you’re looking for some sweet treats, COWBOY-UP Chocolates is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4pm Saturday.
