Ft. Stockton PD investigates injury to 3-yr old, child airlifted to Lubbock

FORT STOCKTON — Fort Stockton police are investigating injury to a child, after a three-year-old with head and bodily injuries was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital Saturday.

According to a press release from the Fort Stockton Police Department, officers were dispatched to Pecos County Memorial Hospital Saturday morning in reference to a child abuse investigation. Officers learned that the child had been brought into the hospital with and was being treated for “what appeared to be serious injuries”. The release stated the child had head and bodily injuries when they were taken to the hospital.

The child was later airlifted to Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock, where as of this morning, they were listed in critical condition, according to the release.

The case is being investigated by the Fort Stockton Police Department, who has processed the crime scene. The CIT is working with the 83rd District Attorney’s Office and continues to investigate the case and conduct interviews. Because of the location of those involved, the Texas Rangers were called for assistance, the release stated.

Fort Stockton police will release more details as the investigation proceeds.
