#MakeADifferenceMonday: Wall Middle School donates to "Somebody's Rusty" ministry

It's Make A Difference Monday and this one is all about the youth. Our Senora Scott was there when middle schoolers from Wall brought boxes of donations to a program called "somebody's rusty." it's a ministry for the homeless population of San Angelo.

SAN ANGELO, TX — "We are doing a donation for somebody's rusty. we had a homeroom challenge for whoever brought the most supplies for this donation could get an ice cream party for their homeroom one day. And it's just a fun way to get people involved,” Wall Middle School students Adam Fore and Chloe Jones said.

“It's been a really great surprise and gift,” Candis Hicks, founder of Somebody’s Rusty said.

“We always do community service and this year we've done projects like this, so our sponsor came up with the idea to do this for Somebody's Rusty. I don't think that I was very aware that there are that many homeless people in San Angelo, but I like getting out there and helping people, that's something I like to do and so I think this was just a good project to help people,” Jones said.

“It's just fun to see their faces for trying to help somebody,” Fore said.

“It gives me great hope for America's future that students in middle school are aware of our homeless population and those in need. Those needs cross all races, they cross all areas of town, that they know that. They're aware and they have love. I feel like we have such an infestation of hate right now that young people are our hope for tomorrow and they're bold. They're reaching out, they're speaking out, so it gives me great hope,” Hicks said.
