'National Night Out' bridges police and community, builds partnerships

Many came out to Angelo Skate Park to enjoy National Night Out. A day that brings transparency to the people and the police.

SAN ANGELO, TX — "35 years of everyone turning their lights on at various locations and they all mingle and get together and skate showing us what they do for our community" says Angelo Skate Park Owner .

National Night Out is happening in cities across America but it is definitely special for San Angelo.

"Our first responder are literally are our back bone in San Angelo they are out there for us" says Park Owner

One of the events was held at the roller rink where kids got to skate for free and meet local law enforcement.

"We have been involved in every event for 13 years" says Park Owner

Skating was not the only fun that the community got to enjoy

"Giveaways, popcorn, pizza, t-shirts its pretty cool" says Park Owner

The event also brings transparency between the police and the people

"You know if they would get out there and mingle with our officers they would see how great they are. They are not someone we should be afraid of."
